Pauline Agnew is a graduate of the National College of Art and Design (1994) Dublin, and the Dublin Institute of Technology (1998), where she obtained a Degree in Fine Art, and a Masters in Multimedia, respectively. A practicing mixed-media artist and art teacher, she has exhibited her work in Ireland and Europe.
Seedbed studio is situated in a tranquil, pretty, rural, West Cork location , within easy reach of the picturesque towns of ,Clonakilty (15 mins.drive) and Bandon (15 mins.drive). Cork city and airport (40 mins drive) Housed in a spacious, converted stables, the studio has lots of natural light, lovely views, and for winter weekends, under-floor heating. Groups of up to ten students can be facilitated with ease. 1 /2/5/ day Art courses available. Private tuition and groups can be accommodated.

Classes at Seedbed studio are intended to nourish our creative selves - a mini-retreat to learn new skills, create, express, make beautiful things, connect with others, and take a break from the daily grind! Courses have been designed to cover simple techniques that provide impressive feedback to participants. No special art skills , and equipment is needed, so that techniques that are learned can be continued and built upon at home .

"Field trip". Contemporary landscape painting (One day, two day, and five-day, courses: €95 // €190// €395)
learn how to manipulate the material properties of paint, its colour,its ability to be thick or thin, transparent or opaque etc; to respond to the colors and textures of nature. We will also explore how to create the impression of depth and distance through paint and how to compose paintings that are influenced by patterns in the landscape, its essence , as opposed to attempting to copy what we see. (No previous experience nessecary)

"Drawing for those who wish they could" 2 day course 180€ Drawing begins with a mark.This course explores mark making as the foundation of great drawings. It covers the huge variety of materials and tools that can be put to use to make marks that are essentially yours and capture a sense of a particular space, person or object, with energy and directness.The emphasis on this course is not to copy a subject but to begin the process of creating your own personal visual vocabulary that communicates your unique take on the world around you!
"The listening earth" - Mixed - media nature journaling (one and two days) €95 and €180 Using easily learnt mixed-media art techniques, you create your own hand-made, layered art journal. Most of the raw materials: plants, flowers and leaves etc; are found close to the studio. The process creates a beautiful object , with a rich layered surface ‘full of a sense of place'.

"Paint and pixels" - Mixed media , digital and handmade collage workshop. ( two days) €195 Combine traditional and digital mixed media art techniques to transform photocopied images, paint textures etc; into an original digital collages, that combine hand made, and computer generated material. We will print your favorite image on quality handmade paper to take home and frame!
