Jim Turner is one of Ireland's leading ceramic artists. His work has been widely exhibited both in Ireland and abroad and is in many private and public collections, including the Crafts Council of Ireland. Jim lectures part-time in ceramics and sculpture. He has also led workshops and seminars and offers consultancy services. Jim studied at the Camberwell School of Art and gained a Degree in Ceramic Sculpture in 1974. After working in several potteries, he established Rossmore Country Pottery with Etain Hickey in 1982.

Tasters, Beginners to Master courses
One-Day Taster Courses:
- Raku - Raku is a popular traditional style of pottery and is freely interpreted as 'enjoyment & enlightenment'. Participants can decorate, fire and take home a pot.
- Introduction to throwing - Look at the techniques and designs of some popular household objects and then learn to throw your own pot.
Short Beginner Courses (3 days)
- Discover the techniques behind the art of kiln building - On this 3 day course we will show you how to build a simple small kiln.
- Investigating new clay mixes - Throwing, quick coiling and using paper clay with additives.
Master Courses (7-10 days)
- Aimed at the more experienced and professional ceramicists to include kiln building, decorating and firing techniques, and sculptural ceramics, using throwing, power extruders and slab rollers. Participants will have access to many different pieces of equipment to develop their own ideas over the period with the help of expert tuition.
