Range of Courses
-
Sculpture
Each workshop focusses on a specific subject and/or material, for example: stone carving, clay modelling, plaster or bronze. In each case, the courses cover the specialist tools and techniques encountered.
-
Bronze casting
This workshop introduces participants to the ancient art of bronze casting using a combination of prehistoric and modern methods. The participants are introduced to wax work and mould making. A gas fired furnace and kiln is used, but summer workshops allow the introduction of pit-fire furnaces and the burning out of moulds in an open fire. Some experience of 3-dimensional work is an advantage, but not a necessity, since the emphasis of this workshop is on learning about the casting process.
-
Drawing and painting (life drawing)
Participants are introduced to drawing and painting with a live model. Various techniques and materials can be used, including charcoal, ink, pencil etc. Most materials are included in the price, but small additional costs can be expected.
All work will necessarily be on a small scale. |
